I <3 LA

here are some old pics from my trips to LA, I'll be back in February so I'll have more after my visit. I love the area and being so close to the water. In these pics I visited Chinatown, Malibu and two of The Getty Museums. The next time I go back I'll take my sketchbook, The Getty is great for people watching..lol..February can't come fast enough...wait I take that back, maybe it can I need more dough for my vintage fix ;)

In my studio

here are some pics of random things in my studio...I think I'm the only artist I know who keeps shoes in her studio, the other pics are of my phone, watercolor brushes, and one of my most favorite pocessions. A necklace from a dear friend, it was a christmas present some years ago, i love it so much its simple but has a little sparkle. I'd like think that pretty much sums me up as a person..lol, i wear it with everything I also sleep in it :D ..LOL enjoy the pics :D

Randomness

I used to get offended when I felt I was slighted, passed over, or over looked. But as I get older I've grown to see the blessing in letting things go that I thought I wanted. Especially as it relates to relationships. I'm so thankful for continued growth, renewal of spirit, bright hopeful eyes, and lessons learned.

The 100

this is the cover of a booklet mock up I've been working on all weekend for the amazing 100 Black Men of Middle Ga organization. Below is last year's cover. Once all the stock photos are finalized I'll finish up the cover and the rest of the book, more pics coming soon!

I hope all of you are having a safe holiday out there. I had a ton of work to do today so I spent the majority of it listening to college football and working on a project for a client. I was just watching the USC/Oregon game and the SC defense was dressing me so I thought I'd do some musing when suddenly I came across this beautiful piece by my lovely photog friend Laretta Houston and the equally lovely Vanessa Marie. This just makes me feel like I could just fly away..LOL. I love how ethereal and yet goth it is, stunning work ladies <3 u both!!!

This morning I had this delicious tea by Celestial Seasonings and I just had to share, since I've been gushing to my friends all day about how much I loved it. This morning while I was sipping my cup of Perfectly Pear goodness I also had the chance to do some musing on the net where I came across Christian Siriano's latest pieces from his S/S 10 line and I must say these looks have me ready for a tea party..LOL

This weekend was my first time venturing out and going to some second hand shops in town and I must say I was very happy with what I found. I have two other jackets and two other shirts that I got so I'll post those as I wear them. I think when I go back I'll look for some dresses, brooches, clutches (for Christmas gifts I'm working on), bracelets, and rings...Oh my! :D

Painting the Past

Hey guys, so I'm trying to get better at blogging every week so bear with me..lol. This week was pretty busy with letterhead and business card designs and a poster design for Savannah State University's Liberal Arts department. I really enjoyed working on that and got to have a lot of fun with the direction of it.

I'm also about to start two watercolor paintings for my parents' Christmas presents. My mom will be receiving a portrait of herself as a baby with her mother and my father will be receiving a portrait of his father. I'll be posting more progress shots over the weekend but here are my reference photos for the paintings. Good thing my parents don't read my blog..lol

My grandfather on my dad's side. He lives up in Jersey now and used to play for the Black Yankees in the negro leagues. He looks EXACTLY like my dad..lol

I think its fascinating how just 3 little words can change the entire tone of your day. My day was great but its even better when I hear "I Love You" at the end of it.

Miss me?!

My my, how I've neglected my lil' blog here..LOL. Sorry guys but its been pretty crazy here with me. I've been goin' really hard on the job hunt and working on some new portfolio pieces one project that I'm super happy with is my revamp of a former client's brand. Just something I wanted to do to add to my portfolio. It was really fun to do a branding project just for fun, the top is original brand identity and the bottom is my creation, Check it out:





Aside from working on graphic design projects I've also been looking for studios in the LA area and applying for design jobs like crazy..lol. I would really love to find something in the fashion advertising industry or maybe even some entertainment advertising so keep your fingers crossed for me!

My buddies

This past weekend I got a really nice surprise in the form of two my closest friends coming to visit me! I haven't seen these girls in months and it was so refreshing to spend time with them and laugh like old times. So as usual, I broke out my camera to test my new tripod and to play with my camera some more ;)

Inspiration

sorry its been so long that I've been by but I've been busy with the job search, portfolio updating, and my website that I've sort of been MIA for a while. I haven't been inspired in a while so I thought I would share some images that have inspired me alot. So much so that I'm currently working on sketches based on the images and some research I've been doing for a children's book project :D . I hope you guys enjoy. <3
