Birthday ZARA Haul

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of posting but I've been super busy with work, working with Eighty & Six Magazine ( eightyandsix.com), and also working on my first collection for my own line....yep you heard me right, I'm still working on the line and if you follow me on Instagram you've probably seen the line sheet teaser which you can also see below but first lemme show what's on my ZARA birthday wishlist.

Belted peplum top, Crossover plaid top, Snake print contrast sweatshirt, white embellished skirt, beaded miniskirt,  jackard print pencil skirt with leather piping.

Leather look shorts, fine knit sweater, wedge sneakers (yes these replica Isabel Marant sneakers have been all over the blogosphere but I couldn't pass them up since they were only 20 bucks and I figured they'd make the perfect travel and errand-running shoes).

So here's a sneak peek of the initial line sheet for the first collection, I'm still in the early stages but I'm learning so much and I'm really excited to get samples produced by the end of the year, I'll try to keep you guys in the loop on when we'll be ready to launch! Thanks so much for all of your support and patience it really means a lot and I can't wait to share the line with you guys!!

IFB Project: Get Inspired

Photobucket

I put together this fall 2012 mood/inspiration board for an IFB contest. The objective was to come up with a few images that inspire your favorite fall trend of 2012. The trend I chose was the Gothic Baroque trend that's pretty popular now but I mixed that with a few photos that had a softer and more fluid feel to them. I also paired my Inspiration photos with my "Romantic Utility" illustration because I'm totally in love with the collection and its a spot on representation of everything that I would love to wear this fall!

Hope you guys enjoyed this quickie inspiration post and hopefully I'll get to be one of the finalist!

I've always loved a mix of feminine and masculine elements when it comes to interior design. Moody wall colors, neutrals, and different combinations of textures for pillows adds tons of visual interest to any space as well! Lastly, never underestimate how much sex appeal great lighting to add to you space...especially in the bedroom. *wink wink* LOL

Happy Tuesday lovelies!!!

Orange Crush

Photobucket

I had planned to wait until the official album release of Frank Ocean's Channel Orange but I couldn't wait LOL...I mean really who was I kidding, as soon as all of my friends on twitter started talking/raving about it I had to download it from iTunes. Its quite fitting that I got it today since I'm working on a new Illustration to submit to UCE Magazine and I always like having new music to listen to while I work on new Ills. I'm about 4 songs in and I already love it like I knew I would. What I love most about Frank is his ability to tell a story and take the listener on a journey which is a dying artform in music especially in R&B...here's a track off the album called Pyramids, Frank released it a few weeks ago but I thought I would share it just in case you guys hadn't heard it yet, enjoy!

Hey loves, so my dear friend Stacie of The SASsy Report is having a black tie wedding next year ( I know, I know its super early to be doing a post about it) and I wanted to do a little post about gowns/shilouette's i'm currently swooning over. I'm thinking of making my own gown inspired by gowns that I loved by Zac Posen and Jason Wu. My first option is a mermaid silhouette; I felt that since I'm quite petite the body hugging form will create/emphasize my curves and give me a little more presence. I also love the notion of doing a modified sweetheart neckline with a hot pink lace inset and the rest of the dress in a contrasting bright orange satin. I paired colorful Dannjo accessories with this dress because they're glam and add so much fun and such a festive feel to the look.

My second option is a black corset bodice with lace overlay and a full sheer skirt in a neon chartreuse. I love the flow of the skirt and really would like to wear something comfortable and breezy since the wedding will be in the summer time. I paired more of Dannijo's vintage inspired pieces with a rock edge with the gown to play up the juxtaposition of the hard feel of the jewels off of the softness of the bottom of the dress. Through the course of the rest of the year I'll be doing more posts about my process of creating both of these gowns and also doing DIY jewelry posts inspired by the baubles from Dannijo...I may even try to squeeze in a DIY clutch post inspired by Alexander McQueen as well so stay tuned!!!

Happy Tuesday!!!

Hey dolls! I hope you all had an amazing holiday weekend celebrating and honoring our military and spending time with your families. I've got a meeting with the Bradley Hughes team this week at their showroom in the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center so I thought I would share some photos from ADAC's site since I was looking for some more inspiration for my office/studio space. I've finally got my work station arranged the way I want it but I still need to organize everything..lol more photos to follow in the coming weeks :)

Wednesday Inspiration: Snow White and The Huntsman

I cannot wait to see this movie, the art direction and cinematography in the trailer has me soooooo geeked and most importantly inspired! I love the gloomy couture take on the story, its beautifully dark and right up my alley! :D
